Spruce-Pine-Fir(SPF) Structural Lumber

Suitable for bookshelves, shelves, desktops, indoor wall panels, chairs, etc.

SPF is the collective name of a group of softwood with similar physical properties, Spruce, Pine, and Fir. It mainly includes four tree species: White Spruce, Engelmann Spruce, Pine, and AlpineFir.

White Spruce is of medium strength and hardness. The color ranges from nearly white to grayish-yellow. Heartwood and sapwood are difficult to distinguish. Uses include light to mid-level construction materials.

Engelmann Spruce is one of the lightest commercial softwood materials, but relative to its weight, it is extremely strong. The wood is from white to light brown. The structure is soft and the texture is straight and it is easy to process. Usually used for construction wood, plywood, pulping wood, wallboard, and component processing.

Pine has a relatively straight texture, white to yellow sapwood and reddish-brown heartwood. After sawing, it is smoother, and the wood comb will not bleed. Mainly used for indoor, component processing rods, and wood pulp.

AlpineFir is a pure fir with medium strength and is lightweight. The early wood is milky white to light brown; the latewood gradually becomes reddish-brown or light brown. The texture is relatively straight and makes it easy to process.

These tree species mainly grow in the western half of the United States and Canada, and their growth habits and wood characteristics are very similar. The SPF tree is medium in shape, about 30 meters high, and about 80 cm in diameter. As the growth rate is relatively slow, the wood texture is denser, the knot is smaller, and more clearing wood.
